I grew up working on exercises like these through creative movement and theatre classes but their benefits are universal. There is nothing more transformational than entering this practice with a sense of play and if nothing else, with curiosity. Sometimes what comes up may surprise you.
When I decided to start my company, Love Letters Cabaret, I was marinating in film noir and classic Hollywood musicals and comedies. I was still a burlesque newbie working on creating narratives much less abstract than I was used to, so I took notes, grabbed two friends, Kage Wolfe & Sean Michael Turrel, and made this:
Jump ahead a few years and I partnered up with Rosie Mae to create shows based on literally the most stupid scenarios we could think of. I don't doubt that all that silliness was a prime ingredient to the significant personal growth I experienced. Bless!
